It’s time for round 3 of the Look for Less Design Challenge!
These fine ladies and myself have been challenged to create a high end look for less. I always look forward to this so much because 1) I love making things for much less than I could buy them, 2)I’m always so impressed with the girls’ projects. You can see all of their LFL projects at the bottom of this post and click through for tutorials!
For this challenge, I was inspired by the color blocked cake stand from none other than Anthropologie. I have a deep fondness for this store, but their prices usually make me want to cry.
The stand is adorable, but each piece adds up to $100 for the full set. I was able to recreate this look for $20 total! It was seriously easy to make. I’m not exaggerating when I say anyone can do this!
All you will need to recreate this look yourself is 3 sherbet glasses or glass candle sticks, 3 glass plates in different sizes, and E6000 glue.
I found a set of 6 green sherbet glasses on eBay for $17, so I would actually be able to make 2 sets of dessert stands for $40 total. That is still less than half the cost of the Anthro set!
All you need to do is place a bead of the E6000 glue on the very edge of the sherbet dish foot. Center the dish on the bottom of a plate and squish together.
If you have any seepage, you can swipe the edge with a cotton swab.
I left each stand sitting upside down for a few hours to cure. That’s all you’ve gotta do! It’s really that simple!
I used clear plates instead of blue {like the Anthro version} since I already have a blue cake stand set. I did try it out with a blue dish I already had, and the color blocking is just so happy and Springy!
I use my stands to serve desserts and finger foods at parties, but also use them to decorate with. They are a great base for a simple centerpiece or can serve as an elegant jewelry dish.
Don’t forget to take a peek at all of the Look for Less projects! They’re fabulous!
